Golden Fruit Fly Culture (D.melanogaster)

£6.40

Golden fruit flies (Drosophila melanogaster, 1–1.5mm, 45ml breeding culture) – complete breeding culture of tiny flightless fruit flies for small amphibians and invertebrates.

Golden fruit flies (Drosophila melanogaster, Insect Length 1–1.5mm) are the smaller of the two flightless fruit fly species, ideal for small amphibians such as Ranitomeya and Mantella, froglets, small invertebrates and other very small insectivores. Each tub is a complete breeding culture rather than a set number of flies: culture medium already seeded with eggs, larvae and pupae that keeps producing new flies for several weeks.

• Flightless, so flies stay where they are dusted and fed
• Produces new flies for several weeks
• Ideal size for small amphibians and froglets
• Smaller than hydei for the tiniest feeders

Keep the culture at normal room temperature; warmer conditions speed up development but shorten the life of the culture. There may be few or no adult flies on arrival, which is normal, as new flies emerge over the following days.
Pack Size / Insect Length: 45ml breeding culture, Insect Length 1–1.5mm
